Blepharoplasty
What Is Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure that enhances the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. Plastic surgeons can perform the procedure for cosmetic reasons, which improves the appearance of the eyelids and eye area. Eyelid surgery can also be performed to remove sagging eyelid skin that blocks part of your vision.

How Upper Eyelid and Lower Eyelid Procedures Work What You Need to Know About Your Surgery
Upper Eyelid Surgery
Upper eyelid surgery is conducted using an incision along the natural crease of your upper eyelid.
Typically, this surgery addresses hooded eyes, skin that blocks your peripheral vision, and drooping eyelids.
Lower Eyelid Surgery
Lower eyelid surgery can involve an incision just under your lower eyelashes or an incision inside your lower eyelid.
Patients often choose this option for a more youthful appearance, as it can tighten sagging, puffy, or tired-looking skin.

What to Expect After Your Surgery Healing from a Blepharoplasty
Recovery
During your recovery, you may notice bruising, as well as stitches along the upper eyelid incision areas. These incisions will heal over time. Your stitches will also be removed within three to seven days.
In the case of excessive swelling, bleeding, discomfort, or other signs of complications, contact Tijuana Bariatrics as soon as possible so swift action can be taken.
Scarring
After you fully heal, it is possible that you may have slight scarring. However, it will likely be minimal, and you might not even notice it at all.
If your plastic surgeon is only addressing your upper eyelids, the incision might not even need stitches. They may choose a method involving an incision inside of your eyelid, which means that you won't be able to see any scarring.
